At the European Congress of Qualitative Inquiry 2022, held on February 2-4, and organized by KU Leuven, Anamaria Malešević, Miriam Mary Brgles, Ana Tomičić , and Anto Čartolovni presented an interactive poster entitled Engaging critical thinking around future possibilities – health 4.0. and the scenario method.

The Poster features an illustrated display of two scenarios used in the qualitative phase of research undertaken by the Digital healthcare ethics laboratory (Digit-HeaL), concerned with healthcare digitalization and innovation in Croatia. The scenarios depict an imaginary portrayal of a future application of digital technologies in healthcare. The first scenario (Physician 4.0 and the future of medicine) focuses on medical skills and the doctor-patient relationship. The second scenario (Self-monitoring of biometric data) revolves around biometric self-monitoring and describes the use of smartwatches and the impact of the public or private controversy on prioritizing values in the event of conflict. The aim of these scenarios is to bridge the gap between users and new technologies, to foster imagination, and to encourage critical thinking.

A unique feature of the European Congress of Qualitative Inquiry 2022 is that it features scholarship from every aspect of the human experience. This year, the thematic focus was on technology, design, and the arts. In its first virtual edition, the Congress enabled the exchange of experiences and research through workshops, presentations, posters, panels, lectures, and a wide range of other activities.
