The Apostolic Nunciature in the Republic of Croatia announced today, on Saturday 15 April 2023, that the Holy Father accepted Archbishop Cardinal Josip Bozanić’s renunciation of the pastoral management of the Zagreb Archdiocese and that Msgr. Dražen Kutleša, the former coadjutor archbishop of Zagreb, assumed the office of archbishop of Zagreb.

Grateful to the Holy Father Pope Francis for the gift of a new pastor of our Church in Zagreb and the new Grand Chancellor of the Catholic University of Croatia, we pray for our Grand Chancellor Msgr. Dražen Kutleša that he may, through the intercession of Blessed Alojzij Stepinac, faithfully serve the Zagreb Church and find in our University a sign of hope that will help him in serving the Church and Croatian society. We ask the Good Shepherd to grant him wisdom, strength and love in leading the Zagreb Church entrusted to him. Our entire university community hereby congratulates him and is already looking forward to his arrival among us.
