The Catholic University of Croatia hosted a one day conference which focused the idea of a Catholic University. Among the speakers was professor Ian Ker of Oxford University, a leading authority and biographer of Cardinal John Henry Newman.

The rector of the university, H.E. dr. Ivan Šaško, auxiliary bishop of Zagreb, in his opening speech emphasized the importance of character formation in the mission of a Catholic university. The conference included a panel with professor Ivo Banac, a leading historian of 20th century Croatia, and professor Željko Tanjić, professor of Fundamental Theology at the University of Zagreb.

The Catholic University of Croatia will begin with courses in History in the autumn of 2010.
