Cardinal Bozanić Visits the Catholic University of Croatia in Preparation for the 20th Anniversary

At the invitation of the Rector, Prof. Željko Tanjić, PhD, and the leadership of the Catholic University of Croatia, Cardinal Josip Bozanić—founder of the University and its long-serving Grand Chancellor—visited the University on Thursday, 16 April 2026. The visit was organized as part of preparations for the celebration of the 20th anniversary of the University’s founding and the blessing of the renovated and newly refurbished section of the university campus.

Following the recording of material for a documentary film on the history of the University in the university TV studio, the Cardinal, accompanied by Rector Tanjić, Vice-Rector for Quality Prof. Ante Crnčević, PhD, Vice-Rector for Organization and Business Prof. Gordan Črpić, PhD, Director of Sollicitudo Msgr. Enco Rodinis, and priests from the University, toured the newly renovated university buildings, including the Student Residence Hall and the Rectorate.

During the tour, the Rector and his associates presented the completed renovation works and plans for the full completion of the campus renewal. Reflecting on the beginnings and early steps of the University, the Cardinal expressed his satisfaction with the achievements so far and emphasized the importance of the continued development of this academic institution in all areas of its mission within the Church and Croatian society.

After the tour, the Cardinal joined the University leadership for lunch at the new student restaurant Manducath on campus. On this occasion, he also met with students and restaurant staff, who warmly welcomed him.

At the conclusion of his visit, expressing his joy in the fellowship with the academic community of the Catholic University of Croatia, Cardinal Bozanić wished abundant God’s blessings upon all members of the University community and their efforts in teaching and research. He also assured them of his prayerful support and continued assistance for the future development of the University. On behalf of the University community, Rector Tanjić expressed gratitude to the Cardinal for all he has done for the development of the University.
