Dr Filip Hren Presents Results of the Project “From Defensive Bulwark to a Military ‘Reservoir’”

On Saturday, 13 December 2025, Senior Teaching Assistant Dr Filip Hren from the University Department of History presented the results of the project From a Defensive Bulwark to a “Military Reservoir”: The Evolution of the Krajina Population as Soldiers from the 16th to the 18th Century (Preliminary Research). The presentation took place in the Knights’ Hall of the Society “Brethren of the Croatian Dragon,” located at the Stone Gate in Zagreb.

The lecture was delivered as part of the 10th meeting of the Research Group for the Study of the 18th Century (IGOS) and was attended by fellow scholars from other universities and related institutions, as well as members of the interested public. Particular interest during the discussion was generated by the student workshops and field teaching activities. One of the key issues raised concerned the need to continue research on this topic after 31 December 2025, when the project officially concludes.
