BIP Programme "Healthcare Excellence in Lifesaving Practice" (HELP) Begins
The Blended Intensive Programme (BIP) titled Healthcare Excellence in Lifesaving Practice – HELP, organised by the Department of Nursing at the Catholic University of Croatia in collaboration with partners from Poland, Slovakia, and Slovenia, officially began with its first online session held on 24 June 2025.

The programme was opened by the BIP coordinator, Assistant Professor Dr. Ivica Matić, Head of the Department of Nursing, who welcomed the participants and introduced the objectives and structure of the programme. In the introductory expert segment, Assistant Professor Dr. Damir Važanić from the Department of Nursing presented the organisation of emergency medical services in the Republic of Croatia, with a special focus on system operations during major crisis situations.

The opening lecture on emergency situations and the organisation of dispatch services was delivered by Saša Balija, President of the Croatian Society for Emergency Medicine and a PhD student at the Catholic University of Croatia.

The BIP HELP programme combines online and in-person components and runs from 24 June to 14 July 2025, with the central part of the programme taking place in Šibenik from 29 June to 5 July. Participants include undergraduate nursing and healthcare students from various European countries. The goal of the programme is to develop knowledge and skills in basic life support (BLS), the use of AED devices, patient immobilisation, and ethical conduct in emergency situations.
The programme is supported by the Erasmus+ programme of the European Union, and all participants who successfully complete the activities will receive a certificate of participation and earn 3 ECTS credits.
