The Symposium “Beginnings of the Kingdom: Church Councils of Split, King Tomislav and His Era on the 1100th Anniversary” Officially Opened
The International Scientific Symposium “Beginnings of the Kingdom: Church Councils of Split, King Tomislav and His Era on the 1100th Anniversary” began in Split on Thursday, May 8. The event is organized by the Catholic University of Croatia and the Department of History of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences at the University of Split. In addition to Rector Tanjić and the vice-rectors, the symposium is attended by 40 students from the University Department of History at the Catholic University of Croatia, led by Professor Tomislav Anić and Associate Professor Kristina Puljizević. After the opening ceremony, the students met with the Archbishop of Zagreb and Grand Chancellor of the University, Mons. Dražen Kutleša, who warmly welcomed their presence.
The symposium is taking place at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences in Split from May 8 to 10 and was formally opened on the first morning in Split Cathedral. The academic section of the symposium includes 52 participants from ten countries. The event is held under the high patronage of the Croatian Bishops’ Conference, the Pontifical Committee for Historical Sciences, and the Government of the Republic of Croatia. The main organizers are the Catholic University of Croatia and the Department of History of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences in Split, with more than a dozen academic, scientific, and cultural institutions also acting as co-organizers.
This is the central academic event in the year marking the 1100th anniversary of the Croatian Kingdom in the Republic of Croatia.
