Scientific Conference "Advanced Materials for Biomedical Application" Held as Part of the AntibacHip Project

On Friday, July 31, 2026, the international scientific conference "Advanced Materials for Biomedical Application" was held at the Catholic University of Croatia in the "Blessed Alojzije Card. Stepinac" Hall. Organized within the framework of the AntibacHip project, the conference gathered numerous scientists and experts in the fields of biomedical materials and engineering.

The plenary section featured three thematic lectures:

Assoc. Prof. Tamara Holjevac Grgurić, PhD (Catholic University of Croatia, Faculty of Engineering) delivered a presentation titled "Development of innovative titanium-based alloy for endoprosthesis."

Prof. Sanja Martinez, PhD (University of Zagreb, Faculty of Chemical Engineering and Technology) presented "Automated EIS platform for assessing the passivity of implant materials developed in the AntibacHip project."

Prof. Primož Mrvar, PhD (University of Ljubljana, Faculty of Natural Sciences and Engineering) presented "Gravity, centrifugal and HPDC casting of composed as-cast foam from biodegradable ZnMg1,5 alloy."

The second part of the program consisted of a poster session presenting research results on innovative alloys, 3D printing of implants, and biocomposite materials:

Synthesis of Metallic Nanosystems for Advanced Applications (Davor Gašparić, Arijeta Bafti Dunatov, Patricija Klanac, Ivana Panžić, Vilko Mandić).

Properties of the Polyetherimide/bentonite Composite (Mario Meheš, Emi Govorčin Bajsić).
