Researchers from the University of Plovdiv visited the Catholic University of Croatia

As part of the Erasmus+ Staff Mobility program, the Catholic University of Croatia hosted two distinguished researchers from the University of Plovdiv “Paisii Hilendarski” in Bulgaria from April 21 to 25, 2026. The visiting scholars were Prof. Meglena Zlatkova, PhD, Vice-Dean of the Faculty of Philosophy and History, and Prof. Dobrinka Parusheva, PhD, from the Department of Ethnology.

The host of the visit was the University Department of Sociology. The official program began on Tuesday, April 21, with a tour of the University, followed by a meeting with professors Luka Šešo, PhD; Associate Professor Mario Bara, PhD; and Assistant Professor Damir Mravunac, PhD, the departmental Erasmus coordinator who designed the visit program. The discussion focused on the exchange of experiences in teaching and research at the two universities, as well as on future forms of academic cooperation.

On the same day, a meeting was also held with the Head of the University Department of Sociology, Associate Professor Ivana Brstilo Lovrić, PhD, and Assistant Professor Miriam Mary Brgles, PhD. It is worth recalling that last year, our students participated in the summer school “Young People and Environment - Water and Future,” co-organized by the Catholic University of Croatia at Paisii Hilendarski University in Plovdiv.

During their stay in Zagreb, the researchers took part in a range of activities related to their academic interests. They visited an exhibition on abandoned villages at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, as well as the Ethnographic Museum and the Museum of Broken Relationships. Their free time outside Zagreb was spent on a short but very pleasant trip to Rijeka and Opatija. At the end of their visit, the guests received Erasmus+ certificates and expressed their satisfaction with the overall organization.
