Guest Lecture by Dr Flavia De Nicole at the Catholic University of Croatia

On Friday, 21 November 2025, our University welcomed Dr Flavia De Nicole from the prestigious The Catholic University of America – Rome Center, School of Theology and Religious Studies. As part of the course Early Modern History, she delivered a lecture titled “Visual Stages of Papal Power in Early Modern Rome: Art Patronage, Liturgy, and Transnational Diplomacy,” attended by upper-year undergraduate and graduate history students.

After the lecture, Dr De Nicole held a workshop titled “Roman Archives for Art-Historical Research: Sources, Tools, and Methods,” during which she demonstrated how to search relevant archives and scholarly literature—an essential component of historical research. Students had the opportunity to locate historical sources in online databases and conduct preliminary analyses.

Dr De Nicole was also received by the Vice-Rector for International Cooperation, Prof. Jasna Ćurković Nimac, Ph.D., with whom she held a meeting touching on several topics, with particular emphasis on strengthening connections and establishing inter-institutional cooperation.
