Assistant Professor Sedak Held the Workshop "In the Beginning Was the Word"

On Thursday, October 1, 2026, an interactive workshop titled "In the Beginning Was the Word" ("U početku bijaše riječ") was held at the Marija Jambrišak Student Dormitory in Zagreb's Upper Town, organized for beneficiaries and members of the KUMULUS Association. The workshop was led by Asst. Prof. Kristijan Sedak, PhD, from the University Department of Communication Studies.

Through practical examples, short exercises, discussion, and a touch of humor, participants explored how communication can be learned and improved, how to capture and maintain an audience's attention, the role of a first impression, how to overcome stage fright, and how to structure a speech so that the message remains clear, comprehensible, and memorable. Topics such as preparing for public speaking, building self-confidence, and fostering connective communication were introduced in an accessible and engaging manner. Special emphasis was placed on concrete communication tools that participants can apply in everyday conversations, education, workplace environments, and various situations where they seek to articulate their views more clearly, pitch an idea, or speak before an audience.

The KUMULUS Association was founded in 2015 as a hub and gathering place for diverse professionals in the fields of education, educational rehabilitation, social work, and healthcare. Operating as an interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary team of theorists and practitioners, the Association develops programs aimed at strengthening personal, professional, social, organizational, and developmental competencies.

A continuation of the cooperation between the KUMULUS Association and Assistant Professor Sedak was also announced through the upcoming program "ABCs of Communication" (ABC komunikacije), scheduled to begin in November. The program will focus on developing practical communication skills and empowering participants to express themselves more clearly, confidently, and effectively across diverse life situations.
