Nika Đuho Vulin

Postdoctoral researcher at the Catholic University of Croatia in Zagreb, Department of Sociology. In 2017, she graduated Sociology at the Catholic University of Croatia. In 2023, she defended her doctoral dissertation at the same university, titled The Postmodern Urban Paradigm and the Transformative Potentials of Traditional Urban Institutions – an example of farmers’ markets in city of Zagreb. 
She has participated in numerous international and scientific conferences and is the author of around twenty scientific papers. She is the author of the book Život zagrebačkih tržnica: perspektiva postmoderne paradigme grada and co-author of the book Kroz tržnicu: Istraživanje socijalnih i fizičkih aspekta gradskih tržnica.
 

RESEARCH INTERESTS:

Topics from the field of urban sociology, with a particular emphasis on those that critically examine the relationship between the city, tradition, culture, and identity. Special focus is placed on urban phenomena and processes such as public space, the transformation of public space in post-transitional cities, the privatization of public space, public spaces as arenas of identity and resistance, urban rituals and city festivals, local identities in the context of globalization, gentrification and its consequences, everyday spaces of encounter, the right to the city, various types of urbanism, the architecture of identity, urban memory, and urban narratives.
