Matea Jurić Matulić
Research assistant at the Department of History, Catholic University of Croatia. She is a doctoral researcher on the project Topography of Medieval Zagreb County (14th–16th Century) (Croatian Science Foundation), led by Prof. Hrvoje Kekez, PhD. She graduated in 2020 from the same university.
During her studies, she participated in the project Perceptions of Croatian, Slavonian, and Dalmatian Elites in the Late Middle Ages and Early Modern Period and attended the specialist workshop “German Paleography,” organized within the Croatian Historical Institute’s project Military Life and Warrior Imagery in the Croatian Borderlands (16th c.–1918).
She has received several awards, including the Rector’s Commendation for Best Academic Achievement (2019/2020) and the Department of History Award for Best Master’s Thesis: Material Culture of Zadar in the 14th Century: Bona Mobilia in Inventories and Wills.
RESEARCH INTERESTS:
Late medieval and early modern history of medieval Slavonia and the medieval County of Zagreb, with a focus on the fortress and estate of Steničnjak. Implementation of interdisciplinary research methods, primarily using historical anthroponymy and toponymy. Work with diplomatic sources.
