Working Meeting of Law Faculty Deans in the Republic of Croatia Held

On Wednesday, September 23, 2026, a working meeting of the deans of law faculties in the Republic of Croatia was held at the Rectorate of the Catholic University of Croatia, organized by our University's Faculty of Law.

At the opening of the meeting, the attendees were welcomed on behalf of the host by the Dean of the CUC Faculty of Law, Associate Professor Kristian Turkalj, PhD. On behalf of Rector Professor Željko Tanjić, PhD, Vice-Rector for Quality, Identity, and Mission, Professor Ante Crnčević, PhD, addressed the gathering, welcoming all participants and wishing them productive work.

Participants in the working meeting included: Professor Ivan Koprić, PhD, Dean of the Faculty of Law, University of Zagreb; Professor Romana Matanovac Vučković, PhD, Dean-elect of the Faculty of Law, University of Zagreb (with a term commencing October 1, 2026); Professor Dario Đerđa, PhD, Dean of the Faculty of Law, University of Rijeka; Associate Professor Ratko Brnabić, PhD, Dean of the Faculty of Law, University of Split; Professor Tunjica Petrašević, PhD, Dean of the Faculty of Law, Josip Juraj Strossmayer University of Osijek; and Associate Professor Kristian Turkalj, PhD, Dean of the Faculty of Law at the Catholic University of Croatia and host of the meeting.

The central theme of the working session focused on the challenges of artificial intelligence across law faculties and defining next steps. The deans exchanged experiences and best practices concerning the use of AI tools in teaching and student assessment, the safeguarding of academic integrity, scientific research, and the enhancement of administrative processes, while also considering the possibility of adopting joint guidelines.

Discussions also addressed the appointment procedures for law faculty representatives to expert committees and other public bodies, emphasizing the importance of reaching agreements on timely mutual consultation and candidate nomination.
