Rector and President of the Student Council at the Inauguration of the New Rector of the University of Rijeka

The Rector of our University, Professor Željko Tanjić, PhD, and the President of the CUC Student Council, who is also the President of the Croatian Student Council, Pero Josip Maslać, attended the ceremonial inauguration of the new Rector of the University of Rijeka, Professor Goran Hauser, PhD. The ceremony was held at the Croatian Cultural Centre in Sušak on Tuesday, 24 February 2026.
 

The rector’s insignia was presented to the new Rector by the former Acting Rector of the University of Rijeka, Professor Davor Vašiček, PhD. The event was also attended by the Minister of Science, Education and Youth, Professor Radovan Fuchs, PhD, and the Minister of Labour, Pension System, Family and Social Policy, Professor Alen Ružić, PhD. In addition to the ministers, welcome addresses were delivered by Member of the Croatian Parliament and Envoy of the Speaker of the Croatian Parliament Josip Ostrogović, Prefect of Primorje-Gorski Kotar County Ivica Lukanović, Mayor of Rijeka Professor Iva Rinčić, PhD, and the President of the Rectors’ Conference of the Republic of Croatia and Rector of the University of Zadar, Professor Josip Faričić, PhD. The ceremony was also attended by Monsignor Mate Uzinić, as well as numerous distinguished guests, members of the University administration, members of the Council of the University of Rijeka, researchers and teaching staff, employees of the Rectorate of the University of Rijeka, and the friends and family of Rector Hauser. The ceremony was musically enhanced by the Choir of the Students of the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Rijeka AXIS, who performed the Croatian national anthem “Lijepa naša domovino” and the academic anthem Gaudeamus Igitur.
