Premiere of the Play “The Passion of Christ or For Whom the Righteous Man Was Crucified”
The premiere performance of the play “The Passion of Christ or For Whom the Righteous Man Was Crucified” by Croatian playwright Rajmund Kupareo, performed by the Drama Section of the Catholic University of Croatia under the direction of our student and artistic leader of the Drama Section, Luka Vinter, was held in the Aula Magna of the Catholic University of Croatia on Wednesday, 18 March 2026.
The Passion of Christ is a drama divided into five parts. It takes place on the Mount of Olives, where Judas and the priests arrange the betrayal; in prison, where we experience Jesus’ suffering through the eyes of the thief who will be crucified alongside Him; in the palace of Pontius Pilate, who is dissatisfied that the Jews forced him to crucify Jesus; on Calvary, where Judas despairs while watching Jesus from afar; and on Golgotha, where we witness Jesus’ death through the eyes of Barabbas, the released criminal who ultimately converts. The details of the play were written about by Prof. Sanja Nikčević, PhD, in the journal Kolo of Matica hrvatska.
