Dr Kristijan Sedak Delivers Public Speaking Workshop for Mary’s Meals Volunteers

On Saturday, 9 May 2026, a volunteer gathering of Mary's Meals Zagreb was held at the premises of Rhema Foundation. As part of the programme, Dr Kristijan Sedak from the University Department of Communication Studies at the Catholic University of Croatia delivered a training session and workshop titled “Public Speaking for the Anxious.”

At the beginning of the event, volunteers were welcomed by Petra Jelinčić, regional coordinator of Mary’s Meals for Central Croatia and a former communication studies student, along with Ana Peričić, volunteer and member of the organisation’s governing board. The workshop then focused on equipping volunteers with practical skills for effective public speaking—how to engage an audience, overcome stage fright, structure a speech, and deliver a clear and compelling message.

Through the training, volunteers learned how to present the mission and activities of Mary’s Meals in an engaging and accessible way, while also gaining confidence and enjoyment in public speaking. The organisation’s mission is to provide daily school meals to children in some of the world’s poorest communities, a goal made possible largely through the dedication of its volunteers
