CUC Open Day Successfully Held

On Thursday, 19 March 2026, the Open Day was held at the Catholic University of Croatia.

The programme titled “Students for Future Students” was designed as a symbolic passing on of experience from senior students to future generations. At the newly renovated university campus, students of history, sociology, psychology, communication studies, nursing and midwifery, computer science, law, and medicine presented their study programmes and everyday academic life.

High school graduates and other visitors, in addition to speaking with students, had the opportunity to tour lecture halls, laboratories, the skills lab, the Anatomage virtual dissection table, radio and television studios, the student restaurant, the library, and the University chapel.

A special feature of this year’s programme was the Tech Park, where assistants and students from the Faculty of Engineering introduced visitors to the connections between artificial intelligence, social media, and modern technologies. Visitors were able to learn the basics of cybersecurity, see examples of artificial intelligence applications in everyday life, and try out VR and AR technologies and their use in education, industry, and entertainment.

In the same space, the Faculty of Health Studies presented the programme “The Invisible World on Your Hands,” demonstrating the importance of proper hand hygiene, as well as the educational activity “Seeing Like Being Drunk,” which illustrates the psychological and physical reactions of individuals under the influence of alcohol. The Psychology Students’ Club HEXIS introduced itself through an interactive and entertaining quiz, while sports activities—especially basketball matches between high school students and university students—further enriched the programme.

The Manducath student restaurant also joined in marking the Open Day, where some high school students had the opportunity to have a meal by participating in activities in which the prize was lunch for two.

“We consider the Open Day extremely successful—more than 700 visitors, mostly high school students, visited the campus and became familiar with its facilities and opportunities. I am proud of our student volunteers. We extend special thanks to the Student Union, which gathered and coordinated more than 120 student volunteers, whose contribution was crucial to the successful organization and implementation of the event. We also thank the medical schools from Mlinarska, Vrapče, and Vinogradska in Zagreb, as well as the Medical School from Varaždin, which visited us with their students, teachers, and principals. I am particularly pleased that we heard many positive impressions about our students, the campus, the programmes we offer, and the exceptionally friendly atmosphere. Every visitor could feel the spirit of a Catholic university, community, and academic and scientific excellence. We can proudly say that the Catholic University of Croatia is a place where new generations are formed and important decisions for the future are made,” emphasized Rector Željko Tanjić.
