Call for the Second Project Workshop - “Access for Persons with Disabilities”

On behalf of the Association for Youth Empowerment and Safety, we invite you to get involved in a new Erasmus+ project (IN)Validity: An Inclusive Approach to the Careers of Young People with Disabilities.

The project is designed to provide young people with the understanding, practical skills, and professional sensitivity needed to work with persons with disabilities—both in education and later in the labor market. The goal is to build a generation of young professionals who promote inclusion, equality, and an ethical approach in everyday professional practice.

The project addresses one of the key social challenges: the stigmatization and incorrect perception of persons with disabilities, especially in the context of employment. Although more than 656,000 persons with disabilities live in Croatia, their participation in the labor market remains low, partly due to a lack of understanding, knowledge, and support in society.

The project therefore focuses on four key objectives:

  • breaking stereotypes and developing inclusive attitudes - young people will learn to recognize the impact of media representation, social beliefs, and communication patterns on the everyday opportunities of persons with disabilities

  • developing practical communication and counseling skills - participants learn about inclusive communication, people-first/identity-first language, approaches to persons with different types of disabilities, and how to support their development and employment

  • understanding the challenges faced by young persons with disabilities in the labor market - through workshops, interview simulations, and real case studies, young people gain concrete knowledge on how to support persons with disabilities in the employment process

  • active participation in changing social perceptions

The project also includes a media campaign, the creation of educational content, and a final conference “THISability” aimed at encouraging public discussion and advocating inclusive policies.

CALL FOR THE SECOND PROJECT WORKSHOP – “Access for Persons with Disabilities”

  • Saturday, February 28, and Sunday, March 1

  • Hostel Samobor

  • For young people aged 16 to 25 (especially those from social sciences and humanities)
