Associate Professor Radoš at the Kick-off Meeting of a New COST Action in Brussels
Assoc. Prof. Sandra Nakić Radoš, PhD, from the University Department of Psychology at the Catholic University of Croatia, participated in the kick-off meeting of the new COST Action CA25119, “Pathways to Safety: Mapping Parental Self-Harm and Suicide Risk” (SAFEPARENTALPATHSITBs), held on 16 October 2026 in Brussels, Belgium. As the national representative for this Action, Nakić Radoš joined representatives from approximately 20 other countries in electing the Action's leadership, adopting the work and financial plans, and planning activities for the project's first year.
Suicide is a leading cause of maternal death in many countries, while suicidal thoughts and behaviours have a profound impact on the physical and mental health of parents and their children. However, maternal suicide can be prevented through timely identification, effective referral pathways, and appropriate interventions. This COST Action brings together a network of researchers, clinicians, and people with lived experience to address these challenges, shifting the focus from risk towards recovery.
