Assistant Professor Ježovita Participated in the Scientific Conference “Luhmann Conference 2025”
Assist. Prof. Dr. Josip Ježovita from the Department of Sociology at the Catholic University of Croatia and Assist. Prof. Dr. Erik Brezovec from the Faculty of Croatian Studies, University of Zagreb, took part in the international scientific conference “Luhmann Conference 2025”, held from 9 to 11 September 2025 at Wolfson College, University of Cambridge (UK).

They presented a paper titled “Sociology as Science: Bridging Analytical and Systemic Approaches through the Concept of Program”.
In their presentation, they outlined a synthesis of systems theory and analytical sociology, emphasizing that these two approaches are not mutually exclusive but rather complementary. They particularly highlighted the concept of “program” as the key link: while analytical sociology explains social processes through mechanisms, systems theory interprets them as patterns of interaction shaped by programs.
This approach enables the creation of a methodological framework that connects empirical research with theoretical insights, thereby further strengthening the scientific foundation of sociology.
