Assistant Poslon in the radio program "Cosmos and Ethos"

The radio program Cosmos and Ethos,” aired on October 30, 2025, on the Third Program of Croatian Radio, featured Luka Poslon, a member of the Laboratory for Ethics of Digital Technologies in Healthcare and an assistant at the Catholic University of Croatia. Under the guidance of host and program author Marito Mihovil Letica, the discussion examined the concept of fairness in the development and application of artificial intelligence in healthcare.

The conversation addressed the dual nature of artificial intelligence in healthcare: its capacity to enhance quality and efficiency, and the ethical dilemmas it introduces, particularly those related to bias and unfair predictions. Assistant Poslon highlighted that fairness constitutes a foundational ethical principle that must guide decision-making process in healthcare. He further noted that the responsible design and deployment of AI systems must be guided by ethical frameworks aligned with human values. Building trust in AI, he noted, relies on explainability and transparency, which foster more equitable, reliable, and accountable decision-making process in healthcare.

Special emphasis was placed on the importance of explainable artificial intelligence (xAI), which enables humans to understand the reasoning processes behind AI-driven predictions. This capacity for explainability fosters greater trust in AI systems and and supports their responsible use in healthcare. By aligning technological progress with moral responsibility, explainable AI contributes to ensuring that digital innovations promote human well-being and preserve the inherent dignity of each patient.
