Assist. Prof. Matijašević Invited Panelist in Brussels

Assist. Prof. Bruno Matijašević participated as an invited panelist in Brussels on 26 and 27 March as part of the European Commission programme Citizens, Equality, Rights & Values Programme (CERV), led by the European Education and Culture Executive Agency (EACEA).

The panel focused on children’s rights, with particular emphasis on the rights of children in the digital environment, as well as broader issues related to the leisure time of children and young people and risky behavioural patterns. The discussion served as both a practical and scientific foundation for programmes targeting children and youth funded under the CERV programme.

Assist. Prof. Matijašević highlighted that virtual leisure time is significantly increasing, which is often reflected in a higher prevalence of internalizing behavioural disorders, particularly during adolescence. He emphasized that the primary preventive and affirmative roles are held by the family and the school, whose irreplaceable contribution—especially in the context of digital transformation—needs to be further strengthened through cooperation with providers of leisure-time activities.
