Apostolic Nuncio and Ambassador of the Republic of Italy at the Catholic University of Croatia

The Apostolic Nuncio of the Holy See to the Republic of Croatia, Mons. Giorgio Lingua, and the Ambassador of the Republic of Italy to the Republic of Croatia, Paolo Trichilo, visited the Catholic University of Croatia on 13 November 2025 to plan joint activities marking the 800th anniversary of the death of St Francis of Assisi, scheduled for 2026.

At the proposal of the Embassy of the Republic of Italy in Zagreb, various possibilities were discussed for developing programmes aimed at bringing the charism of St Francis closer to contemporary Croatian society. The Catholic University of Croatia gladly accepts the role of host and co-organiser of this initiative, thereby continuing and expanding its ongoing Franciscan-inspired projects, such as the “Laudato si’” Centre and the International Summer School of the Economy of Francis.

The Catholic University of Croatia will inform the public in due time about the joint programme that will be prepared for the celebration of the 800th anniversary of the death of St Francis.
