In-Person Component of Blended Intensive Programme Completed in Šibenik

From 29 June to 5 July 2025, the in-person component of the international Blended Intensive Programme (BIP) titled Healthcare Excellence in Lifesaving Practice – HELP was held in Šibenik, organised by the Catholic University of Croatia with support from the Erasmus+ programme of the European Union.

The programme brought together students and lecturers from Croatia, Poland, Slovakia, and Slovenia, and included a series of intensive lectures, workshops, and simulation exercises in the field of emergency medical care. Teaching activities covered topics such as on-site accident response, airway management, cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), bleeding control, and treatment of poisoning.

In addition to the theoretical and practical segments, participants had the opportunity to visit the Šibenik-Knin County Institute of Emergency Medicine and the Šibenik General Hospital, gaining direct insight into the organisation and practice of emergency healthcare services in Croatia.

The programme was formally opened at the Catholic Primary School in Šibenik, with the opening ceremony attended by Bishop of Šibenik, Mons. Tomislav Rogić, the school principal Sister Mandica Starčević, Tomislav Jukić, Director of the Šibenik-Knin County Institute of Emergency Medicine, and Martin Ercegovac, Chief Technician of the Institute. The programme was led by Assistant Professor Ivica Matić, PhD.

The online final session, featuring student project presentations, will take place on 14 July 2025.
