Senior Teaching Assistant Hren delivered a lecture as part of IMHS at the Swedish Defence University

On Wednesday, March 18, 2026, Filip Hren, PhD, Senior Teaching Assistant at the University Department of History, delivered a lecture as part of the International Military History Seminar (IMHS) at the Swedish Defence University (Försvarshögskolan) in Stockholm. For years, IMHS has brought together leading global experts from prestigious academic institutions, as well as early-career researchers, who engage in discussions on topics from the field of military history in a collegial academic atmosphere.

Dr. Hren delivered a lecture titled “Croatian Soldiers and Croats in the Habsburg Service during the Thirty Years' War (1618–1648),” attended by students and faculty from Stockholm, as well as scholars and lecturers from Scotland, Germany, Hungary, and other countries. The seminar was moderated by one of the world’s leading early modern historians, Prof. Steve Murdoch.
