The second student symposium “In fonte veritas” is coming
On Wednesday, April 22, 2026, the second student symposium “In fonte veritas” will be held at the Catholic University of Croatia in Hall C 0.4. This year’s central theme of the symposium is the Papacy. Through research-based engagement with historical sources, ten students will present the results of their studies on an institution that has shaped European and world history for centuries.
Program highlights:
Plenary lecture: The symposium will be opened by Tomislav Matić, PhD, with a lecture on intrigues, scandals, and church schism in the Diocese of Zagreb during the 15th century.
Thematic sessions: The program covers a wide range of topics — from the role of the “Greek popes” in the early Middle Ages and the coronation of King Zvonimir, to Renaissance cuisine at the court of Pope Martin V, and the relationship between the Papacy and totalitarian regimes of the 20th century.
Objective: To encourage critical thinking in interpreting historical reality and to develop students’ research skills.
