Nursing Student Katarina Fofić Publishes Two Scientific Papers Based on Her Master’s Thesis

The master’s thesis of nursing student Katarina Fofić resulted in the publication of two scientific papers, which represents an outstanding achievement and an example of excellence in both student and mentoring work at our University.

As part of her research conducted in the final year of the nursing program, under the mentorship of Assoc. Prof. Ivica Matić, Ph.D., Fofić validated the Croatian translation of the international questionnaire Perceived Professional Preparedness of Nursing Students (PPPNS) and examined the self-perceived professional preparedness of nursing students as they enter the profession.

The published articles are:

•    Validation of the Croatian Translation of Perceived Professional Preparedness of Senior Nursing Students’ Questionnaire, UniCath Journal of Biomedicine and Bioethics, 2025.
•    Self-Perceived Professional Preparedness of Final-Year Nursing Students for Entering the Profession, Croatian Nursing Journal, 2025.

The research results showed that final-year nursing students evaluate their preparedness for entering the profession as high, particularly in the area of patient-centered care, while the greatest challenges are associated with clinical competencies.

This accomplishment highlights the importance of actively engaging students in scientific research and close cooperation with mentors, while also contributing to the advancement of science and the improvement of educational programs.
