CUC Students and Faculty Participate in Erasmus+ BIP in Neu-Ulm
From 4 to 8 May 2026, 20 students from the Catholic University of Croatia took part in a Blended Intensive Programme (BIP) at Neu-Ulm University of Applied Sciences in Neu-Ulm. This year marked the first time the University participated as a partner in the joint course “Ethics, AI and Medicine,” held as part of the Startup Camp One Health.
Students from various departments and faculties—nursing, medicine, computer science, psychology, sociology, and communication studies—collaborated with peers from Germany to explore ethical challenges related to innovation and digital technologies in healthcare settings.

Through lectures, group work, and workshops, participants examined key issues surrounding artificial intelligence, offering critical reflections, analyses, and proposed solutions. Faculty members from the University—Assist. Prof. Odilon Singbo, PhD; Assist. Prof. Ivana Bičanić, PhD; Dr Anamaria Malešević; and Dr Luka Poslon—also contributed by delivering interactive lectures on responsibility, reliability, and the evolving relationship between patients and physicians in the context of AI use in healthcare. The course was coordinated by Prof. Walter Swoboda, PhD, Head of the DigiHealth Institute at HNU.
The Startup Camp One Health brought together students and faculty not only from Croatia but also from Bulgaria, Israel, Finland, Germany, and Italy, creating opportunities for networking, international collaboration, and the exchange of diverse perspectives.
This joint course represents the first collaboration between HNU and the Catholic University of Croatia, laying the groundwork for future cooperation through mobility programmes, joint courses and initiatives, and academic publications.
