Znanstveni rad naših suradnica Matee Bodrožić Selak, Marine Kotrla Topić i Marine Merkaš pod nazivom „Characteristics and parental viewpoints of digital device use in children aged 4 to 8 years“ prihvaćen je za objavljivanje. Rad je nastao na temelju istraživanja s djecom i roditeljima u sklopu projekta D.E.C.I.D.E. kojeg financira Hrvatska zaklada za znanost i Hrvatsko katoličko sveučilište, a prihvaćen je za objavljivanje u časopisu Hrvatska revija za rehabilitacijska istraživanja.
U radu se opisuju preferirani digitalni uređaji, aktivnosti i emocionalna stanja povezana s korištenjem digitalnih uređaja kod djece u dobi od 4 do 8 godina i roditeljska vjerovanja o korištenju uređaja digitalne tehnologije kod djece. Podaci su prikupljeni putem online intervjua s 31 djetetom u dobi od 4 do 8 godina (16 djevojčica) i jednim od njihovih roditelja. Rezultati pokazuju da je pametni telefon omiljeni uređaj djece, a igranje videoigara njihova preferirana digitalna aktivnost. Većina djece se osjeća sretno kada koriste uređaje, ali se osjećaju tužno i ljuto kada moraju prestati s njihovom upotrebom. Roditelji često ističu edukativni aspekt korištenja uređaja kod svoje djece, ali su svjesni negativnih i pozitivnih učinaka uređaja digitalne tehnologije na funkcioniranje djece. Nalazi su raspravljeni u okviru teorije razvojnih niša (Super i Harkness, 2002).

The scientific paper titled “Characteristics and parental viewpoints of digital device use in children aged 4 to 8 years,” authored by Matea Bodrožić Selak, Marina Kotrla Topić, and Marina Merkaš, has been accepted for publication. The paper is based on research conducted with children and parents as part of the D.E.C.I.D.E. project funded by the Croatian Science Foundation and Catholic University of Croatia. It has been accepted for publication in the Croatian Journal of Rehabilitation Research.
The paper describes preferred digital devices, activities, and emotional states related to the use of digital devices in children aged 4 to 8 years, as well as parental beliefs about children’s use of digital technology devices. The data is derived from interviews with 31 children aged 4 to 8 years (16 girls) and one of their parents, conducted online. The results show that smartphones are children’s favorite devices, and playing video games is their preferred digital activity. Most children feel happy when using devices but feel sad and angry when they have to stop using them. Parents often emphasize the educational aspect of their children’s device use but are aware of the negative and positive effects of digital technology devices on children’s functioning. The findings are discussed within the framework of developmental niche theory (Super & Harkness, 2002).
