Basic information about project “CROLAUDATOSI’”

 

Name of the project: “CRO Laudato si’ – On a Care for Our Common Good”

Shorter title: CROLAUDATOSI’

Project institutions: Catholic University of Croatia and Franciscan Third Order of Croatia

 

Project team:

Project leader is Assistant Professor Zoran Turza. He is appointed at Chair of Theology at Catholic University of Croatia. 
There is 34 team members which are from Franciscan Third Order and from interdisciplinary area of research: philosophy, theology, sociology, agriculture, biochemistry, biomedicine, PR etc.

Goal of the project: To point out the importance of the encyclical letter Laudato si’ of the Holy Father Francis On Care for Our Common Home (2015) and by following the instructions stated in the encyclical letter, to inspire the members of the Franciscan Third Order and all interested individuals to complete project activities planned in the project.

 

Two parts of the project

The project consists of two parts: scientific research and conducting project activities. Both parts of the project are complementary and constitute the project in its entirety, the purpose of which is to achieve the realization of project objectives.

The first part of the project consists from two scientific studies. The first study aims to research by using short questionnaires to what extent did the participants respond to conducting project activities and how successful were they. The second study will research the participants’ awareness on environmental problems, the encyclical letter Laudato si’ and the participants’ attitudes on readiness to change their habits in order to help protect the environment.

The second part of the project consists from conducting six project activities in total: compliance with non-working Sunday (from December 12, 2019 until the end of January 2020), reducing heating energy consumption in households (February 2020), reducing food waste (March 2020), reducing water consumption (April 2020), reducing electrical energy consumption (May 2020) and avoiding using plastic (June 2020).

 

International scientific conference: The results of scientific research and project activities will be presented at the international scientific and professional conference at the Catholic University of Croatia at June 4th-5th.

 

Main project platform: The main project platform is a Facebook page, which contains all the instructions for conducting the project. Apart from Facebook, the instructions can also be received by e-mail.
