Te Deum 2025

On Monday, 9 June 2025, the academic community of the Catholic University of Croatia gathered at the Basilica of St. Anthony of Padua at Sveti Duh in Zagreb to celebrate the Te Deum, a solemn Holy Mass of thanksgiving for the blessings received throughout the 2024/2025 academic year.
 

The Mass was presided over by Assistant Professor Dr. Odilon Singbo from the University's Department of Theology, and concelebrated by Rector Prof. Željko Tanjić, Vice-Rector for Quality, Identity, and Mission Prof. Ante Crnčević, Secretary General of the Croatian Bishops' Conference Assoc. Prof. Krunoslav Novak, Prof. Jerko Valković from the Department of Communication Sciences, Jesuit Assoc. Prof. Ivica Musa, Rev. Filip Šešek, Youth Ministry Delegate of the Archdiocese of Zagreb, and the University Chaplain Rev. Branimir Jagodić.

In his homily, Fr. Odilon expressed gratitude to the Lord for another successful academic year. Reflecting on the Feast of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Mother of the Church, he said:

“As members of the academic community who reflect on Mary’s motherhood at the foot of the cross, it is hard not to also recall another form of motherhood – the Alma Mater Studiorum. This is especially true for those who, after five years of intensive intellectual effort, are now saying farewell to their studies and to the university that has nurtured them with intellectual nourishment. Every university—especially a Catholic university—is called to be such a nurturing mother, fostering a learning that does not end with the passing of final exams, but becomes a lifelong commitment. Therefore, dear colleagues, faculty, and staff, let us not allow our many duties to distance us from the essence of our University. Let us, like Mary, remain beside those entrusted to us—nourishing and comforting them, even when we ourselves need comfort.”

The solemn atmosphere of the Mass was further enriched by the performance of the Catholic University of Croatia Choir.
 

After the Mass, the university community gathered for a barbecue, generously sponsored by Catering Lobby, Konoba Marenda, Iločki Podrumi, Pekara Dinara, and Carlsberg Croatia.
