Nursing Student Participates in Erasmus BIP Programme “Nutrition and Global Health” in Poland

Ivona Škrinjar, a graduate nursing student at the Catholic University of Croatia, participated in the Blended Intensive Programme (BIP) Nutrition and Global Health, organised by the Wroclaw Medical University in Poland from 23 to 27 June 2025.

The programme brought together students and lecturers from multiple European countries, and over the course of five days, Ivona took part in lectures, workshops, and site visits focused on topics in nutrition, public health, and pharmacy.

Workshops covered themes such as sustainable diets, alternative protein sources, substitutes for conventional foods, and food toxicology. A particularly engaging aspect of the programme included hands-on cooking sessions to prepare sustainable meals and the analysis of dietary patterns across different life stages. Participants also visited the Mondelez chocolate factory, the Museum of Pharmacy, enjoyed a boat tour on the River Oder, and explored the city of Wroclaw.

A highlight of the week was the international student conference titled Synergy of Dietetics and Pharmacy: A Holistic Approach to Human Health, where Ivona and her team presented their project Small Particles, Big Concerns: Microplastics and Human Health. The presentation explored the impact of microplastics on human health, based on data from over 100 student surveys.
