Program Description:
The undergraduate study program in Midwifery trains students to provide independent, responsible, and competent midwifery care during pregnancy, childbirth, the postpartum period, and the neonatal stage. The curriculum includes core medical courses, clinical training and practice, as well as courses in communication skills, public health, and bioethics. Students acquire knowledge and skills necessary for work in both hospital and community healthcare settings. Upon completion of the program, graduates earn the academic title University Bachelor of Midwifery (univ. bacc. obs.).
Learning outcomes:
Apply the principles of midwifery and evidence-based medicine in clinical practice.
Apply knowledge and skills in providing midwifery care during pregnancy, childbirth, the postpartum period, and the neonatal stage.
Apply knowledge and skills in midwifery care for gynecological patients in hospital settings.
Carry out the process of midwifery care through midwifery diagnoses and interventions.
Provide midwifery care in outpatient gynecological and obstetric practices in the field of reproductive health protection.
Organize parental education and preparation programs for marriage and parenthood.
Recognize pathological conditions during pregnancy, childbirth, the postpartum period, and in gynecological patients.
Analyze fundamental principles and concepts of sociology, deontology, and theology.
Perform midwifery skills in emergency situations and extraordinary circumstances.
Plan midwifery care during pregnancy, childbirth, the postpartum period, and the neonatal stage.
Implement interventions as part of teamwork in health promotion and health education at all stages of a woman’s life.
Analyze clinical problems in midwifery.
Assess clinical evaluations and procedures within the obstetric-midwifery team.
Manage methods of data collection, analysis, and processing within information systems.
Integrate knowledge from the basic medical sciences into midwifery practice.
Plan midwifery care through continuous renewal of knowledge and skills.
Evaluate acquired knowledge for application in midwifery practice.
Integrate knowledge and skills from social sciences, humanities, and other scientific disciplines.
Assess responsibility for lifelong learning, professional development, and the advancement of competencies.
Apply methodology and program support in statistical research and information sciences relevant to midwifery and perinatal statistics.
