Zora Zakanj

Associate Professor at the Catholic University of Croatia. She earned her medical degree from the University of Zagreb School of Medicine in 1995 and completed her specialization in Pediatrics in 2004. She holds subspecialties in Neonatology and Pediatric Intensive Care Medicine. In 2003, she defended her doctoral dissertation entitled “The Influence of Perinatal Factors on the Growth and Development of Twins in the First Year of Life.”

Dr. Zakanj has extensive experience in maternal and child health protection, including her role as a coordinator of UNICEF child protection programs. She has completed advanced training in ultrasound diagnostics in Croatia, Italy, Austria, Germany, and Japan, and has pursued further education in teaching methodology within health sciences and in healthcare leadership. Her scientific and professional contributions have been recognized with multiple national and international awards.

She is the author of more than 150 professional and scientific publications. She participates in, and serves on, the organizing committees of congresses, seminars, and courses in Croatia and abroad. She reviews papers for national and international journals and is an active member of professional societies and associations. Since 2024, she has been involved in teaching at the Catholic University of Croatia.
