Matija Prka

Assistant professor Matija Prka, MD, PhD, graduated in May 2000 at Zagreb University School of Medicine, Zagreb, Croatia. In academic year 1999/2000 he received Rector Award for the best student research work in the field of biomedical sciences. From March 2001 he works at the Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology, Sveti Duh University Hospital, Zagreb, Croatia. He became Ob/Gyn specialist in September 2008, subspecialist in maternal and fetal medicine in February 2017, and primarius in October 2018.

In November 2022 at the University of Rijeka Faculty of Medicine he defended PhD thesis named: „The role of three-dimensional transvaginal ultrasound in staging and prognosing of cervical cancer“. Main topics of his scientific interest are ultrasound diagnostics, obstetric perineal trauma,  and shoulder dystocia. In the period 2005-2010 he was a teacher of Ob/Gyn in School of Nursing Vrapče, Zagreb. He is lecturer on postgraduate courses “Ultrasound in gynecology and obstetrics” and “Obstetric operations” at Zagreb University School of Medicine. 

He published 35 scientific and professional papers according to PubMed, 28 of them are indexed in Current Contents. His publications are cited 245 times in Scopus, with h-indeks 9. From 2022 he serves as a reviewer of „International Journal of Gynecology & Obstetrics“, official journal of FIGO.
