Marija Ćurlin

Associate Professor at the Faculty of Medicine, Catholic University of Croatia. She graduated in Molecular Biology at the Faculty of Science, University of Zagreb, and obtained her Master’s and PhD degrees at the University of Zagreb School of Medicine, in the field of Biomedicine and Health, branch of Basic Medical Sciences.

She has been employed at the Faculty of Medicine, Catholic University of Croatia, since 2021. Previously, from 1997, she worked at the Department of Histology and Embryology, University of Zagreb School of Medicine, where she delivered lectures, seminars, and practical classes for students of the integrated undergraduate and graduate program in Medicine (both in Croatian and English), for students of the School of Dental Medicine, University of Zagreb, as well as for students of the postgraduate doctoral programs in Neuroscience and Biomedicine and Health at the University of Zagreb School of Medicine. For many years, she was Head of the Histology Laboratory, the Laboratory for Neurogenetics and Developmental Genetics at the Croatian Institute for Brain Research, and Acting Head of the Center for Electron Microscopy at the University of Zagreb School of Medicine. She supervised five Master’s theses and two doctoral dissertations. She serves as Head of the Center for Family at the Catholic University of Croatia.

RESEARCH INTERESTS:

molecular regulation of the endocervical gland activity, interactions of metal nanoparticles with cells in vitro and in vivo, regulation of gene expression in human and mouse brain, intracellular regulation of endocytosis in neural cells, embryology, mouse developmental genetics and neurogenetics, development of human brain
