Gordan Črpić

Full Professor at the Faculty of Engineering and the Department of Sociology at the Catholic University of Croatia. He received his PhD in 2009 from the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, University of Zagreb, with a dissertation titled “The Influence of Religiosity on the Individual and Social Dimension of Morality in Croatia.” 

He currently serves as Vice-Rector for Organization and Business Affairs and has previously held the roles of Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs and Head of the Department of Sociology. He was also the head of the Center for the Promotion of the Church’s Social Teaching of the Croatian Bishops' Conference and previously served as its secretary. In addition, he worked as an editor of the social program at Croatian Catholic Radio. 

He is a member of the International Society for the Sociology of Religion (ISSR) and the International Study of Religion in Eastern and Central Europe Association ISORECEA, serves as an external member of the Croatian Parliament’s Committee on Human Rights and the Rights of National Minorities, representing the Catholic Church. He is registered as a researcher with the Ministry of Science, Education and Sports of the Republic of Croatia.

 

RESEARCH INTERESTS:

An interdisciplinary field that combines sociology, the Church’s social teaching, and social policy, focusing on topics such as poverty, solidarity, volunteerism, subsidiarity, reconciliation, forgiveness, and other current social issues.
