Dalibor Karlović
Professor Dalibor Karlović, MD, PhD, was born in Zadar in 1973, where he completed his primary and secondary education. He graduated from the School of Medicine, University of Zagreb, and earned his doctoral degree at the School of Dental Medicine, University of Zagreb. He has been employed at the Catholic University of Croatia since 2012, where he is a Full Professor (tenured) and currently serves as the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine.
He is the Head of the Department of Psychiatry at University Hospital Centre “Sestre milosrdnice” and the Head of the Division of Biological Psychiatry and Psychopharmacology. A psychiatrist and subspecialist in biological psychiatry, Professor Karlović founded the Reference Centre for Consultative and Liaison Psychiatry and Psychosomatic Medicine in 2010, the Reference Centre for Biological Psychiatry of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Croatia in 2016, and in 2024, he established the Division for Cognitive Neuropsychiatry and Brain Stimulation.
He is the President of the Croatian Society for Schizophrenia of the Croatian Medical Association, Chair of the Psychiatry Specialist Examination Board at the Ministry of Health, and a member of the Ministry’s Committee for Psychiatric Specialist Training.
Professor Karlović has served as Editor-in-Chief of ten scientific and professional books and authored around twenty chapters in textbooks and manuals. He has supervised fifteen doctoral dissertations defended at various faculties and universities in Croatia. He is the author or co-author of over 300 references, including more than 140 papers indexed in CC, SCI, and Scopus.
He has actively participated in numerous international congresses and in several international psychopharmacological clinical trials of new medications for the treatment of depression, bipolar disorder, and schizophrenia. He serves as Editor-in-Chief of the journal Archives of Psychiatry Research and is a member of the editorial boards of several internationally indexed journals.
