School of Medicine Professors at the Fertility (In)fertility Conference in Split
On Friday, May 16, 2025, the Catholic Faculty of Theology at the University of Split hosted a scientific and professional conference titled "Reproductive Ethics and the Anthropology of (In)Fertility: Scientific, Bioethical and Theological Horizons." The event brought together scientists, physicians, and experts from various disciplines with the aim of fostering an interdisciplinary discussion on contemporary challenges and questions related to fertility, infertility, and approaches to reproductive health. The conference was organized in cooperation with the Croatian Catholic Medical Society.

Professors from the Faculty of Medicine of the Catholic University of Croatia, prim. dr. sc. Boris Ujević and Vice Dean for Quality assoc. prof. dr. sc. Marija Ćurlin, participated in the event.

Professor Ujević presented the potential of treating infertility through Restorative Reproductive Medicine (RRM). He emphasized that infertility is rarely a single diagnosis—instead, it is often caused by multiple, typically chronic conditions that require long-term treatment. RRM offers a science-based, holistic, patient-centered approach to reproductive medicine.

Professor Ćurlin demonstrated how the application of the Billings Ovulation Method can help detect disorders in the reproductive and endocrine systems before the appearance of visible external symptoms or a clinical diagnosis of infertility. Early detection enables earlier intervention and better treatment outcomes, thereby contributing to the prevention of infertility.

This September, Zagreb will host an international congress on Restorative Reproductive Medicine. More information about the congress can be found at the following link.
