Representatives of the Catholic University of Croatia participate in the FUCE Summer School in Lille
From June 29 to July 3, 2026, Vice-Rector for International Cooperation Professor Jasna Ćurković Nimac, PhD, and Head of the Office for International Cooperation and Mobility Programmes Anamarija Čulo Bačarka, LLM, participated in this year's FUCE Summer School, European Humanism in the Making of Peace, held at the Catholic University of Lille (Université Catholique de Lille).
This year's Summer School brought together students from member universities of the Federation of Catholic Universities in Europe (FUCE), as well as students from universities in Ukraine, Georgia, and Lebanon. As part of the programme, Vice-Rector Ćurković Nimac delivered a public lecture entitled “From Memory to Conflict: Algorithmic Mediation of the Past”, presenting reflections on the relationship between collective memory and contemporary social conflicts while encouraging discussion among participants.
The participation of the Catholic University of Croatia's representatives also carried particular strategic importance, as the University has been selected to host the FUCE Summer School for the next three years. On this occasion, an official handover of the Summer School organization took place in Lille, during which participants exchanged experiences and examples of good practice and agreed on the key organizational and logistical elements required for the successful implementation of future editions of the programme in Zagreb.
During her stay, the Vice-Rector held working meetings with Vice-Rector for International Cooperation Professor Ioannis Panoussis and Professor Natalia Sulikashvili to discuss further strengthening cooperation between the Catholic University of Croatia and the Catholic University of Lille, as well as opportunities for developing joint academic and international initiatives. At the same time, the Head of the Office for International Cooperation met with colleagues from the International Office of the Catholic University of Lille to exchange experiences in organizing international programmes and mobility activities.
A joint meeting with the coordinators of the FUCE Summer School was also held, during which the organizational aspects of the future Summer School in Zagreb were discussed, the programme's thematic framework was outlined, and the timetable for its implementation was agreed upon.
Hosting the FUCE Summer School represents a significant recognition for the Catholic University of Croatia and confirms its active role within the network of European Catholic universities. Organizing the Summer School over the next three years will further strengthen the University's international visibility, expand opportunities for academic cooperation and knowledge exchange, and contribute to the internationalization of the University and the development of new European partnerships.
