Professor Labaš Featured on HRT News

Prof. Danijel Labaš, PhD, Head of the University Department of Communication Studies at the Catholic University of Croatia, appeared on the main news programme of Croatian Radiotelevision on Saturday, 16 May.

In a segment focused on the impact of digital technologies on young people, Prof. Labaš warned that children are increasingly reading less, writing by hand less frequently, and engaging in fewer face-to-face interactions. Instead, they are spending more time using digital technologies, which has consequences for their communication and cognitive abilities.

Speaking about changes in children’s communication habits, he noted that experts have been addressing this issue for years. He emphasised that reduced face-to-face communication and growing reliance on technology can lead to developmental challenges, including delayed school readiness and difficulties with graphomotor skills, as children increasingly type rather than write by hand.
