Laudato si’ Centre Visits the Catholic University of Lyon

Gabrijela Bajić, associate of the Laudato si’ Centre, and Noa Šajatović, student and volunteer of the Centre, visited the Catholic University of Lyon from 2 to 6 March 2026, where they took part in a professional and study visit focused on gaining insight into the work of the university, with particular emphasis on its approaches to sustainability and ecology-related topics.

During their stay, meetings were held with representatives of international offices, including Erasmus+ coordination and the international cooperation office, as well as with staff from research units and faculties such as the business school and the Faculty of Law. Special emphasis was placed on interdisciplinary approaches to ecology, social responsibility, and the integration of these themes into academic and research work. Through the exchange of experiences and examples of good practice, the participants gained insight into concrete models of implementing sustainability in higher education.

After the official part of the programme, they also participated in an ECO spiritual retreat in Taizé, held from Friday to Saturday and organized by ELSiA, a European network of initiatives inspired by the encyclical Laudato si’. Through a spiritual and communal programme, they further deepened their understanding of the interconnection between ecology, faith, and social responsibility.

The entire programme was highly comprehensive and beneficial, marked by new knowledge, international networking, and an inspiring experience that further strengthens future work in the field of integral ecology.
