Homo volans History Students' Club Visits the Opera Nikola Šubić Zrinjski at the Croatian National Theatre
On Wednesday, 28 May 2025, members of the Homo volans History Students’ Club, accompanied by Assoc. Prof. Ines Sabotič, PhD, and teaching assistant Veronika Novoselac, MA in History and Communication Science, visited the Croatian National Theatre in Zagreb to attend a performance of the opera Nikola Šubić Zrinjski.

The opera centres on the historical events surrounding the Battle of Szigetvár in 1566 and the figure of Nikola Šubić Zrinski. Considered one of the most significant works in Croatian operatic history, this performance offered students an opportunity to experience a musical and theatrical interpretation of a pivotal moment in Croatian history, as well as the cultural and historical context in which the opera was created.

The visit was organised as part of the Club’s extracurricular activities, with the aim of promoting cultural engagement and fostering further interest in Croatian history among students.
