Erasmus+ Teaching Mobility at the Academy of Applied Medical and Social Sciences in Poland

As part of the Erasmus+ programme (staff mobility for teaching purposes), Assistant Professor Ivica Matić, PhD, Acting Dean of the Faculty of Health Studies at the Catholic University of Croatia, visited the Academy of Applied Medical and Social Sciences (Akademia Medycznych i Społecznych Nauk Stosowanych) in Elbląg, Poland, from May 26 to 30, 2026.

During the mobility period, he delivered lectures for medical students on developing research questions and conducting scientific literature searches. In addition to teaching activities, the programme included a presentation of the Catholic University of Croatia and its Faculty of Health Studies, as well as meetings with the host institution’s management and academic staff regarding study programme structures and opportunities for future cooperation.

Particular attention was given to the joint development of the Erasmus+ BIP HELP programme, which is coordinated by the Faculty of Health Studies and is being implemented for the second consecutive year in cooperation with partner institutions from Poland and Slovenia. The programme is scheduled to take place in Šibenik. Discussions also focused on how the Polish partner institution could develop its own BIP programme, with experiences being shared regarding planning, coordination, and administrative preparation. A notable outcome of the visit was the invitation extended to Dean Matić to join the editorial board of the Academy’s scientific journal.

As part of the visit, Dean Matić also toured regional emergency medical service offices, where he became acquainted with the organization and operation of emergency medical services in Poland. The partner institution is currently preparing as many as 17 incoming mobilities: 12 students who will participate in the BIP HELP programme and 5 students who will undertake professional placements in Zagreb. Special thanks are extended to the partner institution and its Erasmus+ Office for their excellent cooperation.
