Erasmus MeetUp Held in Collaboration with the Pragma Association

On Wednesday, May 14, 2025, the Catholic University of Croatia hosted an Erasmus MeetUp and workshop titled “Two Perspectives: Youth and Parents Facing the Challenges of Contemporary Society”, organized in collaboration with the Pragma Association. The workshop was led by Mirjana Soljačić, M.A. in Psychology, from Pragma.

The aim of the lecture and workshop was to exchange experiences, attitudes, and expectations related to the process of growing up, as well as to changes in relationships with parents. The discussion focused on how family dynamics evolve when young people begin making independent decisions, often in new and distant life contexts. The workshop also explored whether these experiences differ depending on country, mentality, and culture. Through discussion and personal reflection, the goal was to open space for thinking about different views on family, independence, taking responsibility, and personal development, as well as about the shared challenges young people face in modern society.

Participants included international students currently on exchange through the Erasmus+ program, Catholic University of Croatia students with prior Erasmus+ experience, and students from the University Department of Sociology.

Among other things, the Erasmus MeetUp encouraged intercultural dialogue, the exchange of student mobility experiences, and open discussion on the challenges that young people and their parents face in today’s social context.

The event was jointly organized by the Pragma Association, Assistant Professor Miriam Mary Brgles, Ph.D., ECTS Coordinator of the University Department of Sociology, and the Office for Strategic Planning, Development, and Projects – Mobility Programs Division. We thank all participants for their engagement, and especially the Pragma Association for their collaboration and valuable contribution to the event’s success.
