Call for Participation – Blue Europe, the Think Tank

Dear students,

We are pleased to inform you about an exciting academic opportunity offered by Blue Europe, an independent non-profit think tank dedicated to strengthening dialogue and cooperation between Western, Central, and Eastern Europe.

Blue Europe has officially launched the “Alexis de Tocqueville” Competition 2025–2026, in honor of the renowned French political thinker Alexis de Tocqueville, whose work Democracy in America remains a cornerstone of contemporary democratic studies.

The competition invites undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral students, as well as recent graduates (degree obtained after 2023) from the EU/EEA, the United Kingdom, the United States, and Canada to submit original academic papers exploring relations between European regions, with a particular focus on Central and Eastern Europe (CEE).

Topics may include (but are not limited to):

  • political science and governance

  • industry and applications of engineering sciences

  • economics, trade, and industry

  • innovation and technology

  • sociology, law, and public policy

  • climate policy, energy, and sustainability

Awards

Selected papers will be published on the Blue Europe website, and the winner will receive a cash prize of €2,000.

Important dates

  • September 1, 2025 - competition opens

  • March 31, 2026 - abstract submission deadline

  • June 30, 2026 - final paper submission deadline

  • August 31, 2026- winner announcement

Application guidelines (important)

with the subject line:
“Registration for 2025-2026 competition”

The email must include an abstract of 250-500 words and a provisional title of the paper. Proof of enrollment or of a recently obtained degree will also be required. Once your topic is approved, you will receive an official registration URL.

We strongly encourage all interested students to take advantage of this excellent opportunity to present their research, gain visibility, and contribute to discussions on European issues.
