Blessed Alojzije Stepinac Day at the Catholic University of Croatia
On Tuesday, February 10, Stepinac Day was commemorated at our University with a Holy Mass in the university chapel, followed later by the Hour of Death. The Holy Mass was presided over by the University Chaplain, Rev. Branimir Jagodić, concelebrated with Prof. Ante Crnčević, PhD, Vice-Rector for Quality, Identity, and Mission of the Catholic University of Croatia.

In his homily, the University Chaplain spoke about Jesus’ glory, which is not revealed in success and power, but in the complete self-giving of the Cross, vividly illustrated through the image of a grain of wheat that dies in order to bear fruit. He emphasized that true life and freedom are born only when a person does not retreat into personal security, but opens himself to love and truth, even at the cost of loss. In this light, Blessed Alojzije Stepinac was presented as a concrete example of fidelity to conscience and to the path of Christ, whose life also calls us to daily, quiet self-giving in truth and courage. The full homily can be read HERE.

This week, the university chapel is also hosting albums with photographs from the life of Blessed Alojzije Stepinac, which you are welcome to view. As a sign of our connection with our patron, a prayer for his canonization is also offered each day after Holy Mass.
